Warts aren’t just for witches; anyone can develop a wart. Warts are infections of the skin that are caused by the human papillomavirus or HPV. Although, warts are benign tumors they are contagious.

Common wart locations:
  • In the mouth
  • Around the genitals, and rectum
  • On the fingers, hands, and feet
Wart types are identified by their location on the body:
  • Filiform warts are found around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Flat warts are found on the arms, hands, face, and knees.
  • Plantar warts are found imbedded in the soles of the feet.
  • Common warts are found on the hands, knees, fingers, and elbows.
Warts are usually brown or gray, small, and bean shaped, harmless, little annoyances. If your wart bleeds, it can be painful. Use caution when you have a wart as they can spread easily via physical contact with the wart, clothing, towels, or sheets of the person infected with the wart.

Wart Removal Tips:
  • Over the counter medications can eliminate the wart.
  • It can take months to years to get rid of warts without any treatment.
  • Plantar warts can cause pain if weight is put on them. If this is your situation you may want to have it removed.
