Stretch Marks

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are the after-pregnancy worry of fifty to ninety percent of all mothers. Also called striae gravidarum, stretch marks can occur across the butt, breasts, thighs, upper arms, hips, and abdomen.

Causes of stretch marks:
  • Puberty
  • Pregnancy
  • Rapid weight gain
  • Genetics
  • Dehydrated skin
Stretch marks can appear red, purplish, or pink in color. Fortunately, they do tend to fade a little over time, but not completely. Sometimes lotions containing vitamin E can help this process along. Laser therapy seems to work the best at removing stretch marks.
