Skin Tags
Tag! You’re right, doctors call them acrochordon and cutaneous papillomas, but to most they’re just skin tags. Even though skin tags are benign, non-threatening little tumors that grow on the skin, most people aren’t happy to see them magically appear. Unfortunately, for those over the age of sixty, skin tags are a common nuisance, this is even more so for women during pregnancy and menopause.
Skin tags can be as small as a mole or larger than a golf ball. These unappealing little nuisances can be found on the chest, groin area, chin, eyelids, neck, and armpit of men and women. The flesh colored growths won’t cause pain unless handled roughly, and then they can become irritated.
Science has not found a way to prevent skin tags from growing, but we do know that they can be hereditary, so look to your elders for your future skin care needs. If your skin tags prove to be too much to handle, a doctor can surgically remove them by burning or freezing them off.
