Irritated Skin

Irritated Skin

Irritated skin can be dry, red, cracked, itchy, flaky, or chapped. Although, it is aggravating to deal with, it’s not a life or death situation. Irritated skin is sensitive and can experience inflammation and infection caused by bacteria entering the skin via punctures, cuts, or bumping.

Eczema, environmental pollutants, hormonal changes, and other situations are some of the causes of irritated skin. These irritations attack the most exposed areas of skin, such as lips, hands, eyelids, and cheeks. Poor shaving technique, winter temperatures, indoor heating combined with the chilling wind and UV rays should be kept in mind when protecting your skin from irritation.

Tips to improve irritated skin:
  • Don’t aggravate your irritated skin more by squeezing, scratching, or picking at any irritated areas.
  • Don’t take long showers or baths and try not to use hot water.
  • Use oil free moisturizers rich in essential oils ie: vitamins C and E, chamomile, jojoba oil, and shea butter to name a few.
  • Mild, scent-free cleansers are best for this type of skin.
