Calluses
Calluses are not harmful to your health they actually protect the skin beneath them from injury. Calluses (keartomas or tylomas) are a buildup of dead skin cells that are exposed to constant friction and pressure.
A large amount of dead skin on the foot can turn a callus into a corn. Avoid wearing high heeled and narrow toed shoes often. The unnatural positioning of the foot will cause callusing. You can develop calluses on the palms of your hands and on the fingers, so if you will be doing work such as weightlifting or yard work wear gloves.
Do’s and Don’ts of calluses:
Do - use a rich moisturizing cream after cleansing to smooth and hydrate the area.
Don’t – try to cut the callus off with any sharp objects as you will only cause infection.
Do – Pamper your calluses to avoid long-term skin irritations and to improve your skin’s condition.
